Summary

This recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Industrial Machinist/Mechanics - Lead at the West Point Treatment PlantCareer Service vacancies within the Wastewater Treatment Division over the next 6 months.

Lead a team of mechanics in the repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of plant equipment for both planned and unscheduled work. Perform hands-on maintenance and provide expert guidance and advice on mechanical systems. Inspect work in progress to ensure it meets trades standards, adheres to schedules, and follows safe working practices. Monitor work quality and quantity and provide recommendations to improve methods and solve problems. Participate in Capital Improvement Projects as assigned, providing subject matter expertise (SME) input to project management for pumping station designs and improvements. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating work between the construction manager and other crafts.

About the Role:

The West Point Onsite Mechanical Lead plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our wastewater treatment operations. This position leads high-level mechanical maintenance work and coordinates onsite activities that directly support plant performance, safety, and community impact.

Working in a collaborative team environment, this individual will use their journey-level mechanical expertise to conduct and oversee repairs on a wide range of rotating and stationary equipment, including:

King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division carries out essential work that protects the environment and all members of the public. The instrumentation and electrical group are a critical component within the wastewater treatment division helping to fulfill the county’s mission to protect the region’s water, air, land and natural habitats.
