The Marin County Department of Finance is responsible for the powers and duties of the offices of the auditor, controller, tax collector, treasurer, and public administrator. We serve as a collaborative partner and fiscal advisor to the County government in their consideration of fiscal decisions and planning. ABOUT THE POSITION

T he Department of Finance is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time, onsite position within the Payroll Division. This role requires a consistent physical presence at the historic Marin County Civic Center to support essential fiscal operations.
Under the supervision of the Payroll Manager and direction from the Senior Payroll Accounting Technician, the Payroll Accounting Technician performs simple to complex tasks including maintaining employee withholding and deduction data; interpreting and applying County policies and government payroll regulations; and processing related payroll transactions. In addition, the Payroll Accounting Technician assists with the analysis and evaluation of payroll, and direct pay of insurance premiums. This position requires attention to detail to ensure payroll is processed accurately, and according to County policies, collective bargaining agreements and applicable laws, while consistently meeting deadlines.

Additionally, they bring valuable experience leading or assisting with payroll processing for a medium-to-large business or government entity.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE OF
ABILITY TO

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One year of experience as a Payroll Accounting Technician Trainee; OR equivalent to completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major course work in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field and one year of responsible payroll record keeping experience or related accounting/bookkeeping experience. Additional payroll experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis .
